Sleep stage analysis for smart mattress products

How awake, light, deep and REM timelines become a useful—yet carefully bounded—product experience.

A timeline is more useful than a label

Sleep stage analysis commonly presents awake, light, deep and REM intervals across the night. The timeline gives context to bedtime, wake time and transitions instead of reducing the entire night to a single label.

Presentation needs uncertainty and context

Consumer sleep stages are estimated from the signals available to the product. Apps should explain the informational nature of the result, show missing or low-quality periods clearly and avoid language that implies a clinical diagnosis.

Keep one versioned model

The same stage names, timestamps and report boundaries should reach iOS, Android, REST, CLI and MCP. A versioned model prevents a mattress brand's app, backend and agent experience from telling different stories about the same night.
