How to evaluate an under-mattress sleep tracker

A validation checklist for mattress compatibility, nightly reports, apps, infrastructure and developer interfaces.

Define the intended mattress environment

Document mattress materials, thickness ranges, bed bases, likely placement, power access and single- or shared-sleeper scenarios. A representative matrix is more useful than testing one ideal demonstration bed.

Run complete nightly workflows

Evaluate setup, reconnection, bedtime and wake boundaries, report availability, stages, trends, events and low-quality nights. Include app upgrades, temporary network loss and device reassignment instead of validating only the happy path.

Verify software and operational fit

Exercise the REST API, SDKs, CLI or MCP tools that the project expects to use. Review data residency, authorization, backup and restore, observability, release compatibility and the division of support responsibility before production planning.
